The Buechner Institute: A Place for Students
Students from around the country are being invited to the Appalachians for a focused study. The Appalachian Extension program will offer a diverse range of courses in music, sociology, literature, history, ecology and other disciplines related to the region and the broad rubric of faith and culture. Some of these courses will come in the form of symposia and conference opportunities. Students from King College and the larger region will, of course, be a central part of the various events offered by the Institute. The work of Frederick Buechner will represent just one of the available areas of study.

The Appalachian Extension will offer courses that may transfer into students’ fields of study at their various colleges and universities.
A partner in the Extension will be The Jack E. Snider Honors Center, directed by Dr. Craig McDonald, a professor of English at King College since 1982.
